Davis’s walk-off homer powers Cowgirl Softball past No. 9/4 Nebraska, 2-1
February 26, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER — Rosie Davis launched a towering walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Cowgirls past No. 9/4 Nebraska, 2-1, on Thursday night.
Oklahoma State improved to 12-4 and extended its winning streak to six games. Nebraska fell to 11-5. It was the Cowgirls' third win over an opponent ranked in the top 10 of the NFCA poll this season. Each of those three were one-run games, with OSU previously topping No. 8 Texas A&M, 9-8, then beating No. 6 UCLA, 4-3 in eight innings. It was also the Cowgirls' sixth consecutive win over Nebraska since 2022.
Leading off the bottom of the 11th with the game still deadlocked, Davis drove a deep shot over the batter's eye, sending the home crowd into celebration and sealing the extra-inning victory. It marked the Cowgirls' first walk-off home run since Amanda Hasler accomplished the feat against Baylor last season.
Ruby Meylan got the start for the Cowgirls and pitched 10 innings, striking out nine and walking one. It marked her career high in innings pitched and her highest strikeout total of the season. Meylan's performance against the Huskers continued her current hot streak, as the senior from Omaha has allowed only one run in her last 22.0 innings of work, spread over three appearances.
RyLee Crandall (5-0) came on in relief in the top of the 11th and earned the win, recording one strikeout and not allowing a runner.
For the Cornhuskers, Jordy Frahm started in the circle and allowed one run in seven innings. Alexis Jensen (5-2) relieved Frahm to start the eighth and surrendered the decisive home run three innings later.
Meylan and Frahm, a pair of All-America pitchers, dominated the game until the top of the fifth inning when Nebraska struck first on a single up the middle to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Pokes responded when Tia Warsop singled, and Audrey Schneidmiller followed with a single down the right-field line that scored Warsop to tie the game.
The game was played in front of 1,802 fans to mark the fourth-largest crowd in program history and the largest for a home opener.
The Cowgirls return to action when they play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 3 p.m. against Southeast Missouri.
