STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's indoor track & field moved up two spots to No. 15 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Rating Index, the organization announced Tuesday.
OSU's ranking is the program's highest since the Cowgirls sat at No. 4 heading into the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships. The OSU women have now cracked the top 15 in five of the past six seasons for the first time in the program's history.
Leading the charge for the Cowgirls is the women's Distance Medley Relay of Kaylie Politza, Kalen Goodman, Elyse Wilmes and Billah Jepkirui, who clocked the second-fastest legal time in NCAA history this past weekend at the Arkansas Qualifier. Their performance earned 19.88 of OSU's 62.63 total ranking points this week.
Right behind the DMR is Jepkirui's solo Mile of 4:22.92, which is fourth in the NCAA this season and the fourth fastest in NCAA history. Her performance adds 15.80 ranking points to the Cowgirls' total. Additionally, Isca Chelangat (No. 6, 5,000 Meters), Jepkirui (No. 12, 3,000 Meters), Pavana Nagaraj (No. 12, Long Jump) and Olivija Vaitaityte (No. 13, Pentathlon) make up the rest of the Cowgirls' overall total and each currently sit in NCAA qualifying position heading into conference championship weekend.
