Cowgirls Earn Road Win At Kansas, 85-76

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team picked up its second consecutive win inside Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening with an 85-79 victory over Kansas.
The Jayhawks jumped out to a 9-3 lead before OSU reeled off a quick 6-0 run to knot the score with under five minutes to play. Stailee Heard would give OSU its first lead of the game six minutes in at 12-11 on a 3-pointer from the corner. Micah Gray would bury her second trey of the game on the next possession to extend the margin to four.
However, Kansas would answer with a 6-0 run of its own to move back in front, 17-15. Overall, the lead would change hands six times in the quarter with the Jayhawks taking a 21-20 lead.
In the second, the Jayhawks used a 6-0 run to move back in front, 29-27, before Haleigh Timmer tied the game for the fifth time on OSU's next trip with a layup. Timmer would drill a trey on the next possession to move OSU back in front.
Timmer would drill another 3-pointer at the three-minute mark to make in an 11-0 run and give OSU a 38-29 lead. Gray would follow with one of her own to push the margin to double figures at 41-29 and force a KU timeout. Timmer would add another with two minutes to go to make it a 17-0 run and 44-29 Cowgirl advantage.
Kansas would answer with three consecutive 3-pointers over the next 80 seconds to pull within 44-38. OSU would take a 46-40 lead into the break.
Achol Akot opened the second half with back-to-back layups to push the margin back to double figures a minute into the period. Heard made it a 7-0 run to start with an old-fashioned 3-point play.
OSU would score the first 10 of the quarter before the Jayhawks would get on the board four minutes in. KU would turn it into an 8-0 run to cut the margin to 56-48.
The Cowgirls would take a 64-54 lead into the final 10 minutes.
In the final stanza, OSU hit 11 of its 12 attempts from the free-throw line to keep the Jayhawks at arm's length.
Heard logged her third consecutive 20-point outing, finishing with 21 points and nine rebounds.Â
