Cowboy RTC Claims Three Gold Medals at Pan-American Championships

MONTERREY, Mexico – Cowboy RTC wrestlers Wyatt Hendrickson, Roman Bravo-Young and Zahid Valencia each won gold at the Pan-American Championships this weekend, as the trio went the entirety of the tournament without surrendering a point.
Hendrickson, an NCAA heavyweight champion and Hodge Trophy winner at OSU last season, dismantled the 125-kilogram field. He pinned two of his three opponents, including Canada's Richard Deschatelets in just 23 seconds in the gold-medal match. His other pin came in the quarterfinal round against Costa Rica's Maxwell Lacey.
Fresh off a U.S. Open championship, Valencia collected technical falls in all three of his bouts. He knocked off Venezuela's Steven Rodriguez, Canada's Taran Goring and Argentina's Jorge Llano at 86 kilograms on his way to the title.
Bravo-Young finished a flawless 3-0 weekend for team Mexico that included two technical falls at 57 kilograms. His wins came against Liam Cronin of the United States, Venezuela's Pedro Mejias and Puerto Rico's Lucas Rodriguez.
Joey McKenna also collected a silver medal at 65 kilograms after dropping his gold-medal match to Argentina's Agustin Destribats in the final seconds.
