Cowgirl Tennis Outlasts Stanford to Advance to Elite Eight

STILLWATER – No. 20 Oklahoma State outlasted No. 25 Stanford, 4-3, to advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater.
This is the sixth time in program history that OSU has reached the NCAA quarterfinals and the first time since 2017. The Cowgirls have now won 15 of 16 matches and are now 20-2 all-time in postseason matches played at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Oklahoma State got on the board first after securing the doubles point. Stanford's pairing of Caroline Driscoll and Valencia Xu got the first win, however, as they defeated Kylie Collins and Marcela Lopez 6-1.
Gracie Epps and Alian Zack responded by beating Chidimma Okpara and Morgan Shaffer, 6-2, before the No. 6 pairing of Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp bested the No. 27 duo of Valerie Glozman and Connie Ma, 6-4, to secure the doubles point for OSU.
Stanford tied things up entering singles play at 1-1 as No. 8 Glozman defeated No. 84 Komar, 7-5, 6-2. No. 125 Lopez then put the Cowgirls back in front with a win over Okpara, 6-1, 6-4, giving OSU the 2-1 lead.
No. 12 Ma evened things up once again by defeating Melisa Ercan, 6-4, 6-3, followed by Xu beating Collins, 7-5, 6-3 to give Stanford its first lead of the match. However, No. 115 Nijkamp then topped No. 88 Driscoll, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, to tie things at three.
With the match on the line, No. 77 Epps outlasted Yepifanova in a thriller, 6-4, 6-7 (11-13), 6-4, to clinch the win and send Oklahoma State to the Elite Eight.
The Cowgirls will take on No. 3 Michigan in the NCAA quarterfinals on May 15 in Waco, Texas, with the start time still to be determined.
