Cowgirl Equestrian Dominates Fresno State on Senior Day

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's fifth-ranked equestrian team defeated No. 8 Fresno State, 14-6, at Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center Saturday.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the Bulldogs are now 7-5 and 2-3 in the Big 12.
OSU also extended its home record against Fresno State to 9-0, while head coach Larry Sanchez earned his 17th win over Fresno State.
The Cowgirls swept the MOPs for the second time this season. Riley Hogan received her ninth MOP in Fences, while Hannah Dodd earned hers in Flat, Claire McDowall in Horsemanship and Abby Budd in Reining.
The match began with Fences, and the Cowgirls started strong with a 4-1 win as four riders posted scores above 85.
Senior Mackenzie Carreras was the first rider for OSU, defeating Fresno State's Paloma Primavera. Freshman Emma Hechtman, senior Riley Hogan and sophomore Bella Holway followed. Hogan now has 40 career Fences wins, the most in Cowgirl history, and earned the second-highest Fences score of the season at 87.5.
The match then proceeded with Flat and Horsemanship simultaneously.
Claire McDowall defeated Fresno State's Hailey Olson to earn her seventh win of the season and move her career wins in Horsemanship to 37. The Horsemanship team itself took its ninth win of the season with a score of 3-2. Senior Peyton Baxter started the event by defeating Kendra Lee 73.5-71.25. Claire McDowall and Bella D'Onofrio would follow suit, with June Roberson and Alana Stanton losing their respective rides.
The Cowgirls kept the winning streak going with a 3-2 score in Flat. Hannah Dodd took the win against Fresno State's Molly Stewart in a close 79-78 win. Dodd now has three consecutive wins in Flat and five overall this season. Senior Riley Hogan and sophomore Caroline Mirts earned the remaining points.
After a short intermission, the match concluded with Reining, as the Cowgirls recorded a 4-1 win.
Abby Budd earned her seventh win of the season and posted the highest score of the event at 72.75, and sophomore Ava Bush defeated Fresno State's Shelby Robinette to win back-to-back matchups. Quincee Clark and Tristan Bagby won the remaining points.
The Cowgirls return to action Wednesday when they host third-ranked TCU at 1 p.m. at the Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center.
