Five Cowboys qualify for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Indoor Track & Field officially qualified six athletes in seven events for the 2025 NCAA Track & Field Championships held in Virginia Beach, Va., March 14-15, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
On the men's side, the 14th-ranked Cowboys are well represented with five athletes competing across six events. Fouad Messaoudi (Mile) and Brian Musau (5,000 Meters) each enter the NCAA Championships ranked fourth in their respective events. Laban Kipkemboi is ranked ninth in the Mile, with Denis Kipngetich (11th, 5, 000 Meters) and Musau (14th, 3,000 Meters) rounding out the individual entries for the Cowboys.
The men's Distance Medley Relay squad of Musau, Jordon Smith, Mehdi Yanouri and Ryan Schoppe are also ranked third in the event. OSU has won each of the past two NCAA titles in the DMR, with Schoppe anchoring both times.
For the Cowgirls, Kaylie Politza qualified for her first NCAA Championships in the 800 Meters with her official mark of 2:02.21, which converted down to 2:01.86 after altitude adjustment. Politza is the tenth Cowgirl to qualify for the national championships in the 800 Meters since Director of Track & Field Dave Smith took over the women's program in 2009, with seven of the previous nine earning first-team All-America honors at the national meet.
Action in Virginia kicks off Friday, March 14 with the women's 800 Meter semifinals at 3:20 p.m. CT. The Cowboys open with the men's Mile semifinals at 6 p.m. CT. The entire meet will be streamed live on ESPN+ and tickets for the meet can be purchased here.
