March 29, 2025 | Cowgirl Equestrian
IRVING, Texas —Five Cowgirl equestrian riders earned All-Big 12 status following OSU's 8-11 win against TCU in the Big 12 Conference Championship meet in Fort Worth on Saturday.
Riley Hogan earned a spot on the Fences and Flat team. Claire McDowall, June Roberson, Abby Budd and Emma Filiatreau highlighted the Western discipline, with McDowall and Roberson earning a spot on the Horsemanship team and the latter two on the Reining team.
This is the second consecutive year OSU has had five total riders earn a spot, and six overall accolades.
Hogan has earned multiple conference accolades in the same year in back-to-back years. She's the first Cowgirl since Katy Krshka in 2015 to earn multiple All-Big 12 recognitions. This is fifth time a Cowgirl has accomplished this feat, joining Krshka and fellow Jumping Seat riders Samantha Harrison in 2014 and Allison Joyce in 2013. It's her fourth and fifth honor, after claiming a spot on both teams last year.
Hogan never allowed more than one loss in a row all year in Fences and added six MOPs. Overall, she ended the season in Fences 11-3. In Flat, Hogan led the group with 11 wins and four MOPs. Her average margin of victory was over five points. She set a new career-high in Flat in the Big 12 title meet, scoring a 90.33. She scored in the 80's seven separate times this season, the highest amount of all Flat riders this season.
McDowall earned her third-straight all-conference selection in horsemanship. She had eight wins and four MOPs, the highest MOP count in the event this season. She was named Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month in October.
She started the year 4-0 with three-straight MOPs, including a 77.75 score against Baylor. McDowall scored at least 75 in seven different meets this season.
Filiatreau earned her second-straight career all-conference selection in Reining. The sophomore went 10-4 and established herself as a consistently high scorer with the highest among all Cowgirls this season and dropping below 70 points only twice in 14 meets.
She was named the NCEA Reining Rider of the month in November, where she averaged a score of 73.5 and earned back-to-back MOPs. She received the Big 12 Reining Rider of the Month award in November and February.
Budd and Roberson earned their first career all-conference honor.
Budd led OSU's Reining squad this season with a 9-5 record. She collected four MOPs this season and maintained a four-ride win streak halfway through the year. In the spring, Budd went 3-1 with wins against Baylor, Fresno State and TCU.
This marks the fifth time in history that OSU has collected multiple honors in the Reining event.
Roberson started the season 8-0-1 with a team-high six-ride win streak. She led the Horsemanship team with 11 total wins and three MOPs. The captain averaged a score of 74.81 this season, never dropping below 72.5 points.
Roberson held an average win margin of over five points. In her 11 wins, nine came against ranked opponents. Roberson was named Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month in November and sits at an 11-2-1 record entering the national tournament in Ocala, Fla.
