Cowgirl Softball stays in the top 10 in national polls after opening weekend

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team remains a consensus top 10 team in both the national polls following the first weekend of competition. The Cowgirls slot in at No. 9 in the NFCA/GoRout Coaches Poll and No. 10 by ESPN.com/USA Softball.

The Cowgirls opened their season with a 2-2 showing at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Pokes beat then-No. 9/12 Florida State, 9-6, on opening day and collected a six-inning, 8-0, run-rule victory over Northern Colorado on Friday afternoon.
Oklahoma State continues its season this weekend with five games in three days at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Fla., from February 14-16, where they'll face off against UCLA, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Auburn and Alabama. All five of the Cowgirls' opponents are either receiving votes or ranked in the Top 25 of both the national polls, while three of the five are inside the top 15.
All of OSU's contests at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, including three that will be televised nationally: February 14 against No. 4/4 UCLA at 2 p.m. CT on ESPN2, February 15 against No. 5/5 Texas A&M at 9 a.m. CT on ESPN2, and February 16 against No. 14/12 Alabama at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN.
