Cowgirl Tennis Falls to No. 10 Auburn

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's third-ranked women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling to No. 10 Auburn on the road, 4-0.
The loss drops the Cowgirls to 5-1 and ends a program record 31-match win streak in the regular season. It also ends a seven-match win streak against opponents ranked in the top 10 and marks the first time OSU has been swept since April 7, 2023.
The match began with doubles, with Auburn taking an early advantage. Ava Esposito and Maria Garcia logged the first win for the Tigers, beating Kylie Collins and Alian Zack, 6-0, before the No. 97 ranked team of Angella Okutoyi and Merna Refaat defeated the No. 35 duo of Gracie Epps and Marcella Lopez, 7-5, to clinch the point.
Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp led the No. 16 pairing of DJ Bennett and Ava Hrastar, 5-4, but the match went unfinished.
In singles, Auburn once again landed the first blow as Alice Battesti beat Zack, 6-4, 6-1. Esposito put the third Tiger point on the board, beating No. 58 Lopez in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, before No. 110 Okutoyi defeated No. 33 Epps, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, to clinch the match.
Three singles matches went unfinished, as No. 48 Komar trailed No. 2 Bennett in the third set, 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 2-3, while Collins led No. 69 Hrastar, 6-4, 5-4, and Nijkamp led No. 22 Refaat, 6-4, 6-6.
The Cowgirls will look to bounce back as they attempt to defend their title at the ITA Indoor National Championships in Chicago, Illinois, beginning on Feb. 7.
