November 16, 2025 | Cowboy Wrestling
TULSA, Okla. – The No. 5 Oklahoma State wrestling team fell to No. 3 Iowa in the semifinals and then defeated No. 2 Nebraska in the third-place dual of the National Duals Invitational sponsored by Paycom Sunday at the BOK Center.
The Cowboys took 12 of the 20 bouts on the day, collecting bonus points in five wins. With the split dual results, Oklahoma State moves to 4-1 on the season, with all four wins coming against ranked opponents. The victory over No. 2 Nebraska in the third-place dual marked OSU's highest ranked win since 2012.
"We got tested this weekend a lot," coach David Taylor said. "We wrestled six freshman and one senior, so we're stepping into some pretty big tests with a relatively young team. I thought we got better as the weekend went on even in our losing efforts. So, I feel pretty good."
In the semifinal against No. 2 Iowa, the freshmen were the story of the match again as No. 6 Dee Lockett (165) and No. 20 Sergio Vega (141) both picked up wins over All-Americans No. 9 Nasir Bailey and No. 2 Michael Caliendo, respectively. Another true freshman, No. 5 Landon Robideau (157,) also picked up a win over Victor Voinovich III.
No. 9 Konner Doucet (HWT) nabbed his fourth win of the season by forfeit.
Both Ronnie Ramirez (133) and No. 17 Alex Facundo (174) dropped their matches in sudden victory against All-Americans, while 125-pounder No. 2 Troy Spratley gave up a takedown with under 10 seconds to go to drop a tight match. No. 4 Zack Ryder (184) and No. 10 Cody Merrill (197) fell in their bouts to ranked foes, and No. 3 Casey Swiderski (149) lost a close 5-3 decision.
Against Nebraska, OSU dominated the match from start to finish, going up 30-0 before the Cornhuskers got on the board.
Spratley kicked things off, pinning Alan Koehler in the first period for Oklahoma State's first pin of the season. Vega, Robideau and Lockett all joined Spratley in collecting bonus points in the contest.
Merrill and Facundo picked up top 10 wins in the contest after dropping their bouts against the Hawkeyes. With a 7-6 victory, Swiderski picked up his first win of the season after dropping two matches to top 10 opponents yesterday.
Both Ryder and Doucet came up just short in their bouts, with Ryder losing in sudden victory and Doucet falling, 2-1.
Next the Cowboys head west for matches against Air Force November 21 and Arizona State November 23. They mark the first road contests of the season.
