Hafez Mahadi and Mehdi Yanouri Each Break 800 Meter School Record on First Day of Razorback Invitational
January 31, 2025 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State indoor track & field began their busiest weekend of the year thus far with an eventful and record-breaking day at the Razorback Invitational, DeLoss Dodds Invitational, and J.D. Martin Invitational meets.
At the Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark., Hafez Mahadi kicked off the action at the Razorback Invitational by breaking the school record in the 800 Meters with a scorching time of 1:47.69, becoming the first man in program history to go under 1:48. Mehdi Yanouri promptly broke the new record just one heat later with a time of 1:47.12, reclaiming his OSU record that he set at last year's Razorback Invitational. Not far behind was Laban Kipkemboi at 1:48.54, tied for the sixth-best time in program history.
On the women's side, Kaylie Politza placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.47, which is third best in Cowgirl history.
Over in Manhattan, Kan., at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational, Annie Molenhouse became just the fourth Cowgirl in program history to surpass 4,000 points in the Pentathlon, finishing with a score of 4,084 points. In the field, Blair Anderson and Rajaun Ricketts took first and second place in the men's Long Jump, respectively. Anderson's jump of 7.49 meters is fifth in school history, and Ricketts' jump of 7.31 meters ranks seventh.
In the women's High Jump, Saara Hakanen's mark of 1.76 meters earned her a second-place finish, just shy of her OSU record jump of 1.80 meters at last year's DeLoss Dodds Invitational. Kileigh Mixon's jump of 1.66 meters lands her tied for tenth best in program history.
Down in Norman, Okla., at the J.D. Martin Invitational, Emma Robbins continued to add to her resumé in the orange and black with a second-place finish of 20.20 meters in the Weight Throw. Johnna Orange's throw of 19.18 meters was good enough to earn her fifth place in the OSU record books.
On the men's side, Sam Mason finished first place in the Weight Throw with a 20.58-meter throw, just one centimeter from setting a new personal best in the event, which ranks second in program history behind only Cowboy Olympian Nick Miller. Zac Robbins took home a third-place finish in the event with a throw of 18.26 meters.
OSU returns to the track tomorrow for the second day of the Razorback and the DeLoss Dodds Invitationals. Action in Arkansas kicks off at 11:40 a.m. CT and is streamed live on SEC Network +. The DeLoss Dodds Invitational resumes Saturday at 2 p.m.
