Epps, Lopez Complete Upset at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. – Four members of Oklahoma State's women's tennis team competed in the singles and doubles main draws at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina, on Wednesday.
The day began with singles, where Ange Oby Kajuru and Anastasiya Komar saw their first action of the week. No. 5 Kajuru got a win and advanced, defeating No. 105 Ashton Bowers from Texas, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). No. 11 Komar fell to No. 45 Lily Jones of Michigan, 6-1, 7-5.
In doubles, Gracie Epps and Marcela Lopez secured their biggest win of their young Cowgirl careers, upsetting the No. 5 pairing of Maria Sholokhova and Alina Mukhortova from Wisconsin, 6-3, 6-4.
Komar and Kajuru entered the main draw as the top overall seed but fell in the opening round to Washington's No. 17 Reece Carter and Alexia Jacobs, 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), [3-10].
Kajuru will meet Virginia's No. 21 Annabelle Xu in Thursday's Round of 32 of the singles draw at 10:30 a.m. CT. Epps and Lopez's Round of 16 doubles opponents and match time are still to be determined.
