STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowgirl Equestrian is ranked No. 4 in the 2024-25 National Collegiate Equestrian Association preseason poll.
It's the 10th-straight season the Cowgirls have been ranked inside the preseason top 10. TCU and Fresno State are the other Big 12 Conference teams joining the Cowgirls in the top 10, with TCU coming in at No. 1 and Fresno State at No. 10.
Two years after winning its first overall NCEA national championship in 2022, OSU had yet another successful season in 2023-24, highlighted by its fourth consecutive Big 12 title and another trip to the national semifinals.
The Cowgirls finished last season 9-7, including a 6-2 overall record in conference play, thanks to a strong spring that saw OSU post a 4-1 record and complete season sweeps of Baylor and Fresno State.
Led by graduate Sydney North and seniors Claire McDowall and Grace McReynolds, the Cowgirls came away with two big wins in the month of February. McReynolds earned Big 12 Fences Rider of the Month for February after going 3-0 and earning an MOP, while McReynolds also earned recognition as the NCEA Fences Rider of the Month for March with three wins and one MOP.
OSU entered the 2024 Big 12 Championship with a 6-6 record. The Cowgirls took down Fresno State, 14-6, in the first round, then defeated TCU in the championship round by a 10-9 score.
Fresh off the conference title, the Cowgirls faced Auburn in the first round of the NCEA Championship. They bested the Tigers 10-8, securing a spot in the semifinal round, but the Cowgirl's season ended with a 11-9 loss to SMU.
Two Cowgirls earned All-American status on the season as Claire McDowall took home second team honors in horsemanship, while Riley Hogan claimed honorable mention in fences. It was the second All-American honors for both.
McDowall and Hogan return to Stillwater for the upcoming season and will lead a group of starters that also includes Quincee Clark, June Roberson and Hannah Dodd as the Cowgirls are poised to compete for another national championship.
