Three Cowgirls Advance at Battle in the Bay

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Ange Oby Kajuru, Anastasiya Komar and Marcela Lopez of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team collected wins at the Battle in the Bay in San Francisco, California, on Friday.
Playing as the top seed in the draw, the nationally No. 1 ranked pairing of Kajuru and Komar defeated Liam Oved and Duru Soke of Pepperdine, 8-3, to advance to the doubles semifinals.
Lopez and her partner Gracie Epps fell to No. 12 Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual, the two seed out of TCU, in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-3).
In singles, No. 5 Kajuru, the top seed, defeated Colorado's Aya El Sayed, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, while No. 11 Komar, the four seed, beat Yu-Chin Tsai of TCU, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Lopez rounded out the day with a win against Washington State's Yura Nakagawa, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.
Komar and Kajuru will meet the third-seeded duo of Elyse Tse and Nakagawa from Washington State at 11 a.m. CT in Saturday's doubles semifinals.
In the singles quarterfinals Saturday evening, Kajuru will take on Pepperdine's Vivian Yang and Lopez will play Oved at 6:30 p.m., while Komar will battle Parker Fry of USC at 7:30 p.m.
