Three Cowgirls Named WGCA All-American Scholars
July 01, 2024 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER, Okla. – Cowgirl golfers Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, Angelica Pfefferkorn and Marta Silchenko were named to the 2024 WGCA All-American Scholar Team, the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced today.
To be selected for the honor, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster throughout the conclusion of the team's season and have played in 50% or more of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Hinson-Tolchard, who graduated with a degree in applied exercise science in May, closed her senior season as the fifth Cowgirl in program history to earn four WGCA All-American Scholar Team selections, joining Han-Hsuan Yu, Chin-Min Chen, Pernilla Lindberg and Karin Kinnerud in the honor.
Pfefferkorn, who earned her degree in nutritional science/pre-med, notched WGCA All-American Scholar status for the first time in her career after starting in 11 tournaments as a senior. Pfefferkorn, who posted a 4.0 GPA in each semester at OSU, missed the accolade's playing time requirement in each of her first three seasons but has covered ground this postseason – being named a WGCA All-American Scholar and receiving the NCAA Elite 90 Award at the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championships.
Silchenko, a rising sophomore studying international business, netted WGCA All-American Scholar status after a decorated freshman campaign. A native of Riga, Latvia, Silchenko led the team with 102 birdies and co-led alongside fellow freshman Ellie Bushnell with five eagles on the year. She also logged a host of impressive placements – highlighted by a tied-for-seventh finish at the NCAA East Lansing Regional.
