Cowgirl Golf, Hinson-Tolchard Remain in Conversation After Second Round at NCAA East Lansing Regional

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Oklahoma State women's golf remains in contention for an NCAA Championship ticket, slotting tied for seventh after two rounds at Forest Akers Golf Course, while Maddison Hinson-Tolchard is on the individual podium tied for third.
The top five teams from each of the six regional sites will qualify for the NCAA Championship on May 17-22, advancing 30 team finalists to Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. In addition, the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional will also qualify.
The Cowgirls are tied with Kentucky and are fixed in a five-team battle for fourth and fifth, with fourth place and eighth place separated by five strokes. USC remains in the lead through two rounds at 6-under 570, while Northwestern and Pepperdine are two and three shots back of the Trojans, respectively.
Bailey Shoemaker of USC leads the solo leaderboard at 8-under 136, with Lauren Beaudreau, an individual of Notre Dame, trailing by one shot. Hinson-Tolchard and Jennifer Cai of Northwestern are knotted in third, with both 4-under after two rounds.
Hinson-Tolchard continued her steady play on Tuesday, signing a 2-under 70 to be in contention for individual honors entering the final round. The senior is one of seven in the field to shoot under par in both rounds and ranks top 10 in pars with 26.
Marta Silchenko stands tied for 20th after tallying a 2-over 74 in round-two action. Silchenko opened the day with a rough patch on hole Nos. 14 and 15, posting a bogey and double bogey, respectively, but managed to counter going 1-under the rest of the way.
Ellie Bushnell leads the team with 27 pars, good for third-best in the field, while posting a 1-over 73 to enter the final round tied for 32nd. Starting on hole No. 10, Bushnell caught her stride on No. 13, carding a birdie before logging two bogeys on the back nine.
Thitaporn Saithip followed up Bushnell with her own birdie on the par-5, 460-yard hole and used a trio of birdies to finish even on the day and place tied for 37th.
Angelica Pfefferkorn signed a 75 on Tuesday after carding an even front nine and a birdie to close the day.
The Cowgirls return to Forest Akers Golf Course for the final round tomorrow. Barring inclement weather, Oklahoma State will tee off at 9:10 a.m. CT on hole No. 1 with Kentucky and Augusta.
