EAST LANSING, Mich. – Oklahoma State women's golf will look to punch its fourth consecutive ticket to the NCAA Championship this week as it opens action at the NCAA East Lansing Regional on Monday. The field will take on Forest Akers Golf Course, a par-72, 6,325-yard layout from May 6-8.
Seeded eighth, the Cowgirls enter the regional's 12-team field after closing the season 43rd in the Scoreboard Rankings. The top five teams from each of the six regional sites will qualify for the NCAA Championship on May 17-22, advancing 30 team finalists to Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. In addition, the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional will also qualify.
The Cowgirls are making the program's 30th regional appearance this week and will look to reach the NCAA Championship for the fourth straight season. Oklahoma State enters East Lansing as one of 10 teams to notch the NCAA Championship in each of the past three seasons.
The NCAA East Lansing Regional includes four teams ranked inside the Scoreboard top 25 with USC (6), Northwestern (8), Florida (18) and Pepperdine (21), while carrying five automatic qualifiers.
Oklahoma State bested first-seeded USC by nine strokes at the PING/ASU Invitational in March while also earning three top-five tournament placements during the regular season.

Regular Season Recap
Ranked No. 43 in the Scoreboard rankings, the Cowgirls enter East Lansing behind a core that has recorded a collection of strong showings against premier fields.
At the helm, back-to-back Big 12 Player of the Year Maddison Hinson-Tolchard enters the par-72, 6,325-yard layout behind a career year coated with appearances at premier amateur tournaments.
Returning to the course after debuting at ANWA, Hinson-Tolchard is on pace for the Cowgirls' sixth-lowest scoring average in program history (71.25) while adding a host of accolades to the record books. This season, she tied the program's lowest 18-hole score (64) at the Schooner Fall Classic in September, sits six birdies away from matching Kenzie Neisen's 369 career birdies for second in OSU history, and owns the program record for par-or-better rounds with 68 and counting.
Behind Hinson-Tolchard, Ellie Bushnell and Marta Silchenko have emerged as key members of the Cowgirls' lineup.
A native of Granite Bay, California, Bushnell became the first Cowgirl freshman since Stephanie Astrup in 2017-18 to start in every regular-season tournament for the Cowgirls, and the numbers back that decision. This season, she has posted a 72.71 scoring average – the fourth-best by a Cowgirl freshman (minimum of 15 rounds) – while finishing tied for fourth at the PING/ASU Invitational in March. In the tournament, she went 24-2-1 against Scoreboard top-100 golfers while carding two of her team-best seven 60s rounds.
Silchenko enters the two spot after closing the Big 12 Championship with a 2-under 69 round to post her fifth 60s round and 10th par-or-better round on the season.
Thitaporn Saithip also had a career round at the Big 12 Championship, carding her first bogey-free round as a Cowgirl with a 2-under 69 in the second round of action. Saithip has established herself as a consistent option this season, as the sophomore has ended par-or-better in three of her last five 54-hole tournaments, while her steady scoring average (73.68) has made her a key piece this spring.
Angelica Pfefferkorn has also starred in stints, ending the fall with a 6-under 66 at the Jim West Challenge while providing a host of counters.
Stars Aligning
The Cowgirls have endured some large counting scores during the season. However, their starting lineup carries a bevy of potential low scorers and a ceiling that makes them a force in the field.
Entering East Lansing, the Cowgirls have carded 22 rounds in the 60s – the fourth-most in program history.
Breaking down the roster, Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, who leads the program in career par-or-better rounds (68), has peppered strong outputs throughout the season with six 60s rounds, punctuated by a record-tying 6-under 64. Owning a 71.25 scoring average this season, her consistency has been key. However, the rising play from the Cowgirls' underclassman is what may ultimately pan diamonds this week.
Going into East Lansing, Ellie Bushnell and Marta Silchenko are two of four freshmen in program history to etch five-or-more 60s rounds, carding seven and five, respectively. With more golf to spare, they sit with Rina Tatematsu and Chih-Min Chen, who carded nine and five as freshmen, with both players being named Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2021 and 2015.
Bushnell, who leads the team in the category, has starred against tough competition this season, notably going 24-2-1 against Scoreboard top-100 golfers at the PING/ASU Invitational, while Silchenko hits the course fresh off a 2-under 69 to cap the Big 12 Championship.
Thitaporn Saithip is also coming off her first bogey-free round, a 2-under 69 at the Big 12 Championship, while Angelica Pfefferkorn fired a 6-under 66 in the fall.
Saithip is one of four Cowgirls to go bogey-free this season, joining Maddison Hinson-Tolchard (twice), Clemence Martin and Marta Silchenko.
The Cowgirls' starting five has made an identity in that any player can fire a strong round at any moment, but being able to string some of these efforts will be key.
Familiar Grounds
While Oklahoma State women's golf has only played in East Lansing once in its history – the 2002 NCAA East Lansing Regional – head coach Greg Robertson and Maddi Swaney have recent experience at Forest Akers.
With Kent State, Robertson and Swaney led the Golden Flashes to a wire-to-wire victory at the 2019 NCAA East Lansing Regional, logging 11 birdies on the final round's back nine to win the regional and defeat Arizona, the 2018 NCAA champions, by a stroke.
Regional Resume
The Cowgirls enter Forest Akers Golf Course as one of 10 programs to reach the NCAA Championship in each of the past three seasons. Excluding the cancelled 2020 postseason, head coach Greg Robertson and assistant coach Maddi Swaney have led the Cowgirls to the NCAA Championship in each year since taking the helm.
Assessing this year's field, Oklahoma State's least-played region comes out of East Lansing, facing only Augusta, Denver, Indiana, Northwestern and USC in tournaments. However, its 4-2 record against opponents (66.7%) marks its best winning percentage against any region.
Great Lakes, Greater Travels
As the second northernmost site in this year's regional play, East Lansing poses travel times unlike any other. With fifth-seeded Michigan State playing host, three of the top four seeds are also top four in traveling distance:
