Cowgirl Golf Closes Play at Big 12 Championship

HOCKLEY, Texas – Oklahoma State women's golf rounded out play at the Big 12 Championship in ninth place at The Clubs at Houston Oaks on Saturday.
Texas took home the team title in Hockley, firing a 2-under final round to finish 1-under 851 and fend off runner-up Iowa State by 12 strokes. Cyclones duo Liyana Durisic and Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn were awarded co-champion honors, with both finishing the par-71 course at 6-under 207.
After shooting 17-over 301 in the opening round, Oklahoma State established some footing, firing rounds of 288 and 291 to close the tournament at 28-over 880.
The Cowgirls led the field with 180 pars at The Clubs at Houston Oaks, carding its most pars in a Big 12 Championship since tracking began in 2014 and the 10th-most by any team in the tracking era. In the field, Oklahoma State produced three players who were top six in the category: Maddison Hinson-Tolchard (40), Ellie Bushnell (39) and Angelica Pfefferkorn (38).
Marta Silchenko fired a closing round of 2-under 69 to tie for the fourth-best scorecard of the day and finish tied for 26th. After bogeying her second hole, the freshman birdied three of five holes to cap the back nine and etched six on the day to jump 15 spots on the leaderboard.
Hinson-Tolchard posted an even 71 to exit Hockley in 32nd. The senior showcased her consistent par efforts all three days, finishing third in the category, and tied her efforts together with birdies on holes No. 8 and 10 on Saturday.
Starting on hole No. 10, Hinson-Tolchard and Silchenko played a pivotal role in the Cowgirls ousting TCU and Oklahoma by two strokes as the pair birdied hole No. 8 – the second to last hole – to gain some separation, while Bushnell provided another push birdieing hole No. 7.
Bushnell's birdie on seven marked her lone of the day, ultimately exiting play tied for 33rd with rounds of 77-72-73 – 222.
Thitaporn Saithip matched Bushnell, finishing tied for 33rd with rounds of 75-69-78 – 222. Saithip's week was highlighted by a bogey-free 69 that marked the Big 12 Championship's first bogey-free round since former Cowgirl Lianna Bailey in 2021.
Pfefferkorn signed an 80 in the final 18, moving to tied for 48th on the leaderboard. The senior started the day +5 after carding an eight on the par-3, ninth hole, but caught her balance going 1-over on her last 13 holes.
The Cowgirls will hear their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show, which will air Wednesday, April 24, at 1 p.m. CT on Golf Channel. The NCAA Regionals are slated for May 6-8.
