Cowgirls Finish Regular Season Atop ITA Rankings
April 16, 2024 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's tennis team will enter the postseason at No. 1 in the ITA Division I rankings for the first time in program history.
The Cowgirls took over the top spot in the team rankings on Feb. 14 after winning the ITA Indoor National Championship and now, 10 weeks later, have yet to relinquish it. OSU is preparing to host the Big 12 Championships in Stillwater this week and will enter as the top seed after going 13-0 in conference play and winning the Big 12 regular season title.
In the individual singles rankings, Ange Oby Kajuru climbed back to No. 2, matching a program record she set earlier this season. Joining her in the rankings are Anastasiya Komar at No. 15, Lucia Peyre at No. 55, Safiya Carrington at No. 62 and Ayumi Miyamoto at No. 93.
In the doubles rankings, Komar and Kajuru held their spot at No. 5 while Komar and Raquel Gonzalez appeared at No. 31.
Going by the latest team rankings, Oklahoma State's resume includes wins this season over No. 2 Michigan (twice), No. 3 Stanford, No. 7 Texas (twice), No. 8 Pepperdine, No. 10 UCLA, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 16 Auburn and No. 18 Oklahoma.
Along with OSU, nine other Big 12 teams appeared in the top-75: No. 7 Texas, No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 25 Texas Tech, No. 36 Baylor, No. 40 BYU, No. 46 TCU, No. 50 UCF, No. 54 Kansas and No. 73 Kansas State.
