March 07, 2024 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
BOSTON – Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track & field travels to Boston to compete in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at the state-of-the-art the TRACK at New Balance.
Multi-event athlete Olivija Vaitaityte kicks off action for OSU Friday in the Pentathlon starting at 9:50 a.m. ET in the Pent 60 Meter Hurdles. The Pentathlon wraps up with the 800 Meters at 3:40 p.m. ET.
Following Vaitaityte are cross country All-Americans Alex Maier and Denis Kipngetich in the men's 5,000 Meters at 5:20 p.m. ET. This is the third consecutive appearance for Maier in the 5K and first for Kipngetich on the indoor national stage. At last year's NCAA Championships, Maier took home first team All-America honors for his eighth-place finish overall.
Immediately following the men's 5K is the Cowboy Distance Medley Relay, looking to defend their NCAA title from 2023. The Cowboys took home gold last year with a dominant, wire-to-wire victory. The squad also won their fourth straight Big 12 championship in the event two weeks ago at the Big 12 Championships.
After the conclusion of the men's prelims and 5K and DMR finals, the Cowgirls will take center stage starting at 7 p.m. ET with Billah Jepkirui in the Mile prelim. This is Jepkirui's first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships individually, as she was a member of the Cowgirl DMR that took sixth last year. Following Jepkirui is Gabija Galvydyte in the 800 Meter prelims at 7:50 ET. Galvydyte was also a member of the Cowgirl DMR last season and is making her second appearance individually indoors, narrowly missing the 800 final two years ago.
Cowgirl All-Americans Taylor Roe and Molly Born start things off in the finals in the women's 5,000 Meters at 8:20 ET. Both are making their first appearances at the NCAA meet in the event, with Roe finishing first and third at the previous two NCAA Championships in the 3,000 Meters.
Rounding out the first day of action is the Cowgirl DMR at 9 p.m. ET, which will look to improve upon its sixth-place finish from last season.
On day two, Maier, Brian Musau and Ryan Schoppe kick things off for OSU in the men's 3,000 Meters at 5 p.m. The trio will look to make it back-to-back years with a Cowboy on the top step of the podium after Fouad Messaoudi's national title last season.
On the women's side, freshman Winny Bii makes her first appearance at NCAAs in the Triple Jump after winning the Big 12 title two weeks ago in Lubbock, Texas. Roe and Jepkirui will then be doubling back for the 3,000 Meters at 8 p.m. ET, with Roe looking to secure her second NCAA title in the event.
The entirety of the meet will be streamed live on ESPN+ starting Friday at 9:30 a.m. ET with the women's Pentathlon. Live results for the meet can be found here.
