March 26, 2024 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – Ange Oby Kajuru of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday, becoming the fifth Cowgirl this season to earn the award.
This is the fifth time that Kajuru has been named Big 12 Player of the Week in her career, but it's her first time as a Cowgirl. She joins Raquel Gonzalez, Anastasiya Komar, Lucia Peyre and Safiya Carrington as Oklahoma State players to have received the honor this season.
Kajuru had a big weekend to help Oklahoma State remain undefeated with wins over No. 7 Texas and No. 20 Oklahoma. On Friday, she handed No. 23 Malaika Rapolu from Texas her first loss of the season, winning in straight-sets 6-2, 6-4.
On Sunday, Kajuru and partner Anastasiya Komar knocked off the No. 3 ranked doubles team in the country in Oklahoma's Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina, 6-3. Kajuru also led No. 34 Guzman in singles, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 2-1, as OSU clinched the Bedlam win, leaving her singles match unfinished.
Oklahoma State is now 19-0, marking its best start to a season in program history. The OSU resume also includes six wins over the top-seven teams currently in the ITA rankings and 11 wins over teams in the top-25.
The Cowgirls will be back at home this weekend to take on West Virginia and Cincinnati looking to extend their record-breaking unbeaten streak.
