McReynolds named NCEA’s Fences Rider of the Month
March 20, 2024 | Cowgirl Equestrian
STILLWATER, Okla. – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced Wednesday that Oklahoma State equestrian's Grace McReynolds has been named the association's Fences Rider of the Month for March.
It's McReynolds' first time receiving the national monthly award and her second overall recognition, after earning the Big 12 Conference's honor in February. She joins Claire McDowall as the second Cowgirl this season to earn the NCEA's monthly award, with McDowall earning the Horsemanship rider of the month in November.
With her accomplishment, she becomes just the second Cowgirl in program history to earn the NCEA's monthly honor in Fences. Abigail Brayman was the first to do so, earning the title in October of 2018.
The senior out of Colorado Springs, Colo., built off the momentum she garnered in February to conclude one of the strongest spring seasons by any OSU rider in recent memory. She went 2-0 on the month, averaging over 85 points per ride. Likewise, her margin of victory was over 12 points without riding against a zero.
Against Fresno State, McReynolds scored a meet-high 88 to earn her second MOP of the season. Her 88 points is a career high, the second time she's set a new mark this spring.
McReynolds concluded the spring season undefeated in Fences the next day, with an 83-78 win at UC Davis. She had the highest Fences score of all Cowgirls in both meets in March.
She will enter postseason competition on a five-ride win streak.
