Cowgirls, Silchenko Remain in Third After Second Round in Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The Cowgirls held their ground in the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic, carding a 1-over 289 to enter the final 18 in third, while Marta Silchenko posted a par-72 to slot tied for third on the individual leaderboard.
The Cowgirls broke even in the top-three standings on Monday, as with Texas A&M and LSU both carding a 1-over 289, OSU trails by two and three strokes at the 6,305-yard, par 72 Grand Reserve Golf Club. Oklahoma State carries a 3-stroke lead over fourth-place Arkansas.
Starting at hole No. 1, Silchenko bounced back from a hole No. 3 bogey with back-to-back birdies on holes No. 4 and 5. Following the turn, the freshman briefly claimed sole possession of the individual lead with a birdie on hole No. 10.
Silchenko held a top-10 standing the entire round and is two strokes behind the individual leader – Carla Bernat of Kansas State – going into the final 18.
Clemence Martin opened play with birdies of holes No. 1 and 3 to enter the back nine inside the top 10. Martin was on pace for her second bogey-free round of the season until carding a bogey on the course's par-4, 346-yard hole No. 17.
Martin is tied for most birdies in the field with 31 and is tied for 13th after her 1-under performance.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard recovered from a triple bogey on her third hole of the day to card a 1-over 73 and slot inside the top 20 going into Tuesday. With a quartet of birdies, Hinson-Tolchard tied Annie Thurman for the fifth-most birdies in program history at 327.
Starting on hole No. 3, Ellie Bushnell went 2-over 74 on the day, posting her lone birdie on the front nine, while Angelica Pfefferkorn ended the day 6-over 78.
Competing as an individual, Sammie Miller went 2-under through her first nine holes, closing the day shooting a 4-over 76.
