Cowgirl Softball climbs in national rankings

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball moved into the top 10 in both national polls after the opening weekend of play. The Cowgirls are ranked No. 8 by ESPN.com/USA Softball and No. 6 by the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.

- No. 4 in the D1Softball Top 25
- No. 8 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25
- No. 6 in the USA Today/NFCA DI Top 25 Coaches Poll
The Pokes went 5-0 against Cal State Northridge, LMU, Utah State, UC Riverside and No. 10 UCLA last weekend, with four of those wins coming via run rule. The highlight of the weekend was a 9-1 run-rule victory over the Bruins at Easton Stadium, the first road run-rule win over an NFCA top 10 opponent in school history.
OSU heads to Clearwater, Fla., this weekend to compete in the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. Of the Cowgirls' five games at the event, three are against ranked opponents, starting with a battle against No. 4/4 Georgia at 9 a.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 6. All of OSU's games at the Clearwater Invitational can be seen on the ESPN family of networks, with a radio broadcast available on the Varsity Network app.
