Cowgirl Equestrian Earns Four Big 12 Rider of the Month Awards
November 07, 2024 | Cowgirl Equestrian
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State equestrian's Riley Hogan has been named the October Big 12 Fences and Flat Rider of the Month, while Claire McDowall earned Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month and Quincee Clark earned Big 12 Reining Co-Rider of the Month.
This marks the first time in program history the Cowgirls have swept the conference riders of the month awards. This is the seventh time OSU has earned at least three of the four awards.
For Hogan, this is the second time she has earned the Fences title in her career and the first time she has been honored as the Flat Rider of the Month. Hogan is the second Cowgirl in history to claim multiple Big 12 Rider of the Month awards in the same month alongside all-timer Katy Krishka.
Hogan's wins mark the first time OSU has swept the Jumping Seat Big 12 monthly award since Sydnie Ziegler (Fences) and Katie Pelzel (Flat).
In her fifth season as a Cowgirl, McDowall earns her second career honor since she won in November last season. Also, she is OSU's first Horsemanship rider since June Roberson in 2024 to bring home the title.
For Clark, this is the first time she has earned the conference's monthly honor in her career. She is the first OSU Reining rider to win the award since Tristan Bagby in February of 2024.
In October, Hogan went 4-0 and earned three MOPs in Fences, while going 3-1 in Flat and collecting two MOPs. Hogan reached 52 career wins in October, moving her into fifth place in career wins in OSU history. Hogan now has 15 career MOPs in her career.
So far this season, Hogan has scored at least an 83 in four of her five Fences rides, showcasing her ability as one of the most reliable point scorers on OSU. She sits in a tie for second in Fences wins in OSU history with 34. In Flat, Hogan collected at least a 71 in four of five rides. She also earned a career-high 89.5 at No. 3 TCU that earned her an MOP.
McDowall started off the Fall season with a perfect 4-0 record, earning MOPs in all four meets in the month of October. Her four-ride win streak is the second longest of her career, and she leads OSU's Horsemanship squad with a 4-1-0 overall record to start this season. She has scored at least a 73 in four of five meets this season, including a season-high 78 against Auburn, one point short of her career-high.
Clark, a senior, is the third Cowgirl to finish the month of October with a perfect record as she went 4-0 in Reining, including capturing an MOP on the road against No. 3 TCU. Clark is the first Reining Cowgirl to go undefeated in a month since Tristan Bagby, who won three-straight rides in February of 2024.
McDowall and Clark become the first pair of Western riders to sweep the Big 12 monthly award since McDowall (Horsemanship) and Emma Filiatreau (Reining) last season.
