DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team wrapped up play at the Daytona Beach Classic on Friday evening with a 57-53 loss against Richmond inside the Daytona Beach Ocean Center.
The Cowgirls fell to 7-1 on the year, while the Spiders improved to 8-0.
The two teams started slowly at the offensive end, combining to hit just one of their 11 shot attempts. After the Cowgirls scored the first four points of the contest, the Spiders answered with consecutive treys for their first lead.
OSU got six points from Jadyn Wooten and held the Spiders to a 25 percent shooting effort to find itself knotted at 10-10 after the first with both teams going scoreless over the final two-plus minutes of the frame.
Richmond opened the scoring in the second with a 3-pointer before MIcah Gray answered with OSU's first trey in eight attempts to tie the score again at 13 three minutes into the period.
Wooten drilled back-to-back jumpers to fuel a 6-0 Cowgirl run and put OSU in front, 19-15, with 4:23 to go in the half.
She would add another jumper after the media timeout to extend the margin. However, Richmond would score the next seven to retake the lead at 22-21.

The third period started much like the first with the Cowgirls missing their first six shots and getting just a pair of free throws through the first five minutes. Richmond would reel off the next five to extend its margin back to 35-28.
The Cowgirls would finish the quarter just three of 13 from the floor to trail, 37-32.
In the fourth, OSU used a 6-0 run capped by another Wooten jumper to pull within one at 42-21 at the halfway point of the quarter.
