STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State wrestling team begins the 2024-25 season as the No. 3 team in the Coaches Poll, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced Wednesday.
The Cowboys headlined a group of eight teams from the Big 12, a total that's tied for the most by any conference. Iowa State and Missouri joined OSU in the top 10 at sixth and ninth, respectively, while South Dakota State (12), Northern Iowa (14), Arizona State (18), West Virginia (19) and Oklahoma (22) were also featured. Penn State and Iowa were the only teams placed ahead of Oklahoma State.
Meanwhile, InterMat's final set of preseason individual rankings were also released this week with nine Cowboys listed, including six in the top 10 at their respective weight classes.
Wyatt Hendrickson again led the way for Oklahoma State as the second-ranked heavyweight, while returning national finalist Dustin Plott remained third at 184 pounds. Troy Spratley (125 pounds), Cameron Amine (165) and Dean Hamiti Jr. (174) were all ranked sixth and 157-pounder Teague Travis cracked the top 10 in the ninth spot.
In the middle of the lineup, Tagen Jamison landed at No. 14 at 141 pounds and 149-pounder Carter Young jumped four spots up to No. 17. Luke Surber rounded out the group as the 20th-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds.
Oklahoma State starts its season with a road trip to Utah Valley and Oregon State from November 15-17 before returning home to face Wyoming on November 22.
