October 22, 2024 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's cross country remains at No. 1 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll, with the Cowgirls rising one spot to No. 18, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Cowboys have held the No. 1 spot in each of the four polls in the 2024 season thus far after taking home the program's fifth NCAA title in 2023. The OSU men have dominated their two regular season competitions thus far, defeating three ranked teams at the Cowboy Jamboree and scoring just 18 points at the Weis-Crockett Invitational this past weekend.
In FloTrack's individual rankings, five Cowboys are ranked in the top 11 with Denis Kipngetich (No. 4), Brian Musau (No. 6), Fouad Messaoudi (No. 9), Ryan Schoppe (No. 10) and Victor Shitsama (No. 11). Laban Kipkemboi is also up 21 spots in this week's rankings, jumping all the way to No. 36 after a pair of top-5 finishes this season.
As for the Cowgirls, they are up one spot from last week's USTFCCCA poll to No. 18 following their 12th-place finish at the loaded Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, where 15 of the top 25 teams in the country competed. Sivan Auerbach is the highest-ranked Cowgirl individually at No. 63 after she placed 39th in Wisconsin.
Overall, both the Cowboys and Cowgirls have appeared inside the top 25 of every USTFCCCA cross country poll since 2020. The women have now been ranked in 31 straight polls, with the men's squad having not been ranked outside the top 10 since 2019. Additionally, the Cowboys have appeared in the top 5 in 26 consecutive polls.
Up next for the Cowboys and Cowgirls is the Big 12 Cross Country Championships, which will be held Nov. 1 at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco, Texas. The Cowboys have won four straight conference titles on the grass, with the Cowgirls winning two of the last three Big 12 titles.
