Cowgirl Soccer Victorious Again
October 20, 2024 | Cowgirl Soccer
ORLANDO, Fla. – Oklahoma State ran its winning streak to five games Sunday with a 2-0 triumph over UCF at the UCF Soccer Complex.
With the win, the Cowgirls are now unbeaten in their last seven matches and improved to 13-2-3 overall and 6-2-2 in Big 12 play. The last time OSU won 13 games was 2020 when it made the NCAA Sweet 16; it's also its first time to win six league games since that season.
Grace Gordon had four saves and tied the OSU record with her 12th shutout of the season, equaling the mark set by All-American AD Franch in 2011. She also notched the first assist of her career on the Cowgirls' second goal.
Gordon's shutout also set a record for consecutive clean sheets by a Cowgirl goalie as it was Gordon's sixth in a row to surpass the previous mark of five set by Franch in 2011.
Additionally, Gordon moved into third place on OSU's career shutouts list; she now has 18 in 37 games.
The shutout also marked OSU's 15th clean sheet of the season, which ranks as the second most in program history.
Chloe Wright and Logan Heausler netted goals for the Cowgirls, both of them coming in the opening half.
OSU got the scoring starting in the 16th minute off a corner kick as Xcaret Pineda delivered the ball into the box where Wright ripped a header into the net for her first goal of the season. She became the 13th different Cowgirl to score a goal this season.
The Cowgirls doubled their lead in the 37th minute as Heausler collected her team-leading and career-high eighth goal of the season. Gordon's goal kick carried to Reganne Morris who sent a pass ahead that Heausler tracked down before chipping the goalie to make the score 2-0.
OSU concludes the regular season Friday when the Cowgirls host TCU at Neal Patterson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
