Grace Kilcrease Ranked No. 2 in first NCAA Women’s Golf Poll
October 16, 2024 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's golf team was ranked No. 30 in the nation, while Grace Kilcrease was ranked No. 2 in the first NCAA rankings released on Wednesday afternoon.
The new rankings system is through Scoreboard by Clippd. The rankings are powered by a points system that considers the difficulty of course, the field depth and numerous other important notes.
This is the first ranking of the year and did not include any data from the Dale McNamara Invitational, a tournament in which the Cowgirls finished second, only behind Arkansas, the No. 1 ranked team.
Kilcrease slotted into the No. 2 spot after winning the Carmel Cup, breaking the school record for low round with a 63 at the Schooner Fall Classic and placing top 10 in her first three tournaments as a Cowgirl. Before the Dale McNamara Invitational, the junior transfer from Tulsa, had a staggeringly low stroke average of 69.20. She is just behind the No. 1 player in the country, Arkansas' Maria Jose Marin, whom she bested by one stroke at the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
In addition to the Cowgirls opening the season with a top 30 ranking, sophomore Ellie Bushnell came in as another top 100 golfer. She placed No. 93 in the country. Bushnell had two rounds in the 60s through the first month of competition.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Monday at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in Oklahoma City and on the Golf Channel.
