Oklahoma State Cross Country Set to Split Up for Dual-Meet Weekend
October 15, 2024 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country will host the second annual Weis-Crockett Invitational at the state-of-the-art Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course on Saturday, while also traveling to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals.
The top-ranked Cowboys will stay in Stillwater and compete at the Weis-Crockett Invitational after a dominant, 26-point victory over No. 8 New Mexico at the 86th Cowboy Jamboree in September. Brian Musau broke the 8K course record with his time of 22:55.6, defeating the defending NCAA runner-up in New Mexico's Habtom Samuel who took second. Two-time cross country All-American Fouad Messaoudi is also anticipated to make his regular season debut for the Cowboys after placing 12th and tenth at the previous two NCAA Championships.
Meanwhile, the No. 19 Cowgirls will split up and compete at two separate meet Saturday, with eight women heading to Wisconsin for Pre-Nats while the rest of the squad runs at the Weis-Crockett Invitational. The group heading to Wisconsin will be looking to pick up points for a potential at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, should the Cowgirls earn an automatic bid by finishing in the top two at the regional meet in November.
Wisconsin Pre-Nationals is also shaping up to be one of the premier meets of the season, with 15 of the top-25 women's teams set to compete. The women's "A" race featuring the Cowgirls in Wisconsin starts at 10:00 a.m. CT and will be streamed live on RunnerSpace.
For the Weis-Crockett Invitational, the men's 8K will kick things off at 9:00 a.m. CT, with the women's 6K immediately following at 9:45 a.m. Parking will be held at O'Brate Stadium, with one shuttle heading to-and-from the course starting at 8:15 a.m. Admission is free for attendance.
