Komar, Kajuru Reach Quarterfinals of ITA Central Regional Championships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team collected two wins each to advance to the singles quarterfinals of the ITA Central Regional Championships on Friday.
No. 5 Kajuru's first victory of the day came against Kansas State's Veronika Kulhava, who she beat 6-1, 6-3. The top-seeded Cowgirl followed that with a win over No. 119 Daianne Hayashida from Iowa, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2.
No. 11 Komar, the two seed, beat Arkansas State's Anna Grigoreva, 6-3, 6-4, before taking down Oklahoma's Salakthip Ounmang by the same score.
Gracie Epps and Marcela Lopez each got wins in the Round of 32 over opponents from Kansas State, with Epps defeating Tereza Polakova, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, while Lopez beat Charlotte Keitel, 6-4, 6-1. Both Cowgirls fell in the Round of 16, however, as Epps lost to Iowa State's Anna Supapitch Kuearum, 2-6, 6-4, 5-7, and Lopez fell to No. 56 Alina Shcherbinina from Oklahoma, 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles, top-seeded Komar and Kajuru fell to Kulhava and Polakova in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (8-6).
The singles quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, with Kajuru slated to face Iowa's Tereza Dejnozkova at 9 a.m., while Komar with match up with No. 100 Emma Staker from Oklahoma at 12 p.m.
