Cowgirl Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak
October 10, 2024 | Cowgirl Soccer
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State jumped out to a big early lead and cruised to a 3-0 win over Houston Thursday night at Neal Patterson Stadium.
With the win, the Cowgirls ran their unbeaten streak to four and improved to 10-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in Big 12 play. Houston is now 3-9-1 and 0-7-0 in the league.
OSU scored its three goals in the first 12:28 as Alex Morris, Gracie Bindbeutel and Xcaret Pineda found the back of the net.
Grace Gordon recorded the shutout in goal, tallying five saves. The clean sheet was her ninth of the year, tying her for third most in season in program history and marking the most by a Cowgirl since AD Franch had a record 12 in 2011.
The shutout also marked OSU's 12th of the season, which is tied for the third most in program history. It's the first time the Cowgirls have reached that mark since 2009.
Morris got the scoring started in the seventh minute. After Chloe Wright won the ball and sent a pass ahead to Wilson, Wilson found Morris at the corner of the box, and the senior delivered a shot to the far post for her second goal of the season.
Just 2 ½ minutes later, Bindbeutel made the score 2-0 as she ran down a beautiful through ball from Wilson and tapped a shot past charging UH goalie Maggie Manning. It marks the second-straight game in which Bindbeutel has scored.
The Cowgirls' third goal came via penalty kick as Pineda stepped up and buried the attempt for her fifth goal of the year.
OSU returns to action Sunday when the Cowgirls host Cincinnati. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Neal Patterson Stadium.
