Cowgirls Roll Past Old Dominion, Advance to ITA Indoor National Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa – Oklahoma State's third-ranked women's tennis team earned a dominant 4-0 victory over Old Dominion on Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa, to wrap up ITA Kickoff Weekend.
With the win, the Cowgirl advance to the ITA Indoor National Championships that will take place in Seattle, Washington, from Feb. 8-12. They also improve to 4-0 on the year, marking OSU's best start to a season since 2020.
The day began with doubles, where the Cowgirls only lost two games in three matches. Raquel Gonzalez and Ayumi Miyamoto were the first to turn in a victory, beating Allison Isaacs and Alexandra Viktorovich, 6-0.
Not long after, Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru wrapped up the doubles point for Oklahoma State, besting Sofia Johnson and Liddia Rasskouskaia, 6-1, on court one.
Kristina Novak and Safiya Carrington's match on court three went unfinished, with the Cowgirls leading Kira Matushkina and Ulyana Romanova, 5-1.
Entering singles with a 1-0 lead in the match, OSU continued to flex its muscle. No. 53 Lucia Peyre captured the first point for the Cowgirls, defeating Matushkina, 6-0, 6-2.
No. 2 Kajuru turned in the next win for Oklahoma State, beating Viktorovich, 6-1, 6-4, on court two. Almost simultaneously on court six, Gonzalez clinched the match for the Cowgirls, besting Romanova, 6-2, 6-3.
On court one, No. 13 Komar was leading Johnson, 6-2, 5-5, but the match went unfinished. No. 60 Miyamoto also led on court four, 6-4, 4-3, against Isaacs when the match was called. Additionally, Novak led Rasskouskaia, 6-4, 4-2, on court five in another match that went unfinished.
Oklahoma State will look to carry momentum from its undefeated start to the season into another high-ranked battle when they host No. 6 Pepperdine on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
