Cowgirls Cruise Past No. 14 Ohio State, 4-1

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's fifth-ranked women's tennis team improved to 2-0 with a win over No. 14 Ohio State at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Sunday.
Oklahoma State collected its highest-ranked win since 2018 on Friday when it defeated No. 5 Michigan, and it improved to 3-3 all time against Ohio State with the win on Sunday.
The Cowgirls got off to a slow start, losing the doubles point in two matches. Ohio State's Irina Cantos Siemers and Audrey Spencer posted the first win for the Buckeyes, defeating Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez, 6-2, on court two.
On court one, Sydni Ratliff and Luciana Perry of Ohio State held off the sixth-ranked doubles pairing of Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4).
On court three, the final doubles match between Oklahoma State's Safiya Carrington and Kristina Novak and Ohio State's Teah Chavez and Madeline Atway was left unfinished with the score 6-5 in favor of the Buckeyes.
The Cowgirls responded in singles, beginning with a dominant win by No. 2 Ange Oby Kajuru over No. 85 Luciana Perry, 6-0, 6-1.
On court six, Kristina Novak pulled out a 6-2, 6-2 win against Ohio State's Audrey Spencer. No. 53 Lucia Peyre followed that with a win over Sydni Ratliff, 6-3, 6-3, leaving the Cowgirls one point away from victory.
The Cowgirls quickly clinched the match, as No. 62 Safiya Carrington defeated Shelly Bereznyak of the Buckeyes 6-3, 6-4, on court four.
On court one, No. 13 Anastasiya Komar was leading No. 15 Irina Cantos Siemers of the Buckeyes, 7-6 (3), 5-5, but the match went unfinished. No. 62 Cowgirl Ayumi Miyamoto's battle with Teah Chavez also went unfinished at 7-6 (6), 5-2.
The Cowgirls will look to build on their strong start to the season when they head to Ames, Iowa, for ITA Kickoff Weekend, beginning with a battle against No. 16 UCLA next Saturday.
