STILLWATER – Oklahoma State remained perfect at home and in Big 12 play this season with a 1-0 win over Kansas Thursday night at Neal Patterson Stadium.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 9-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the league; OSU has won all six of its matches on its home field this season. KU fell to 3-2-5 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play with the loss.
OSU also continued its dominance over the Jayhawks in Stillwater. The Cowgirls have won nine consecutive matches on their home field against KU dating back to 2006; KU's last win in Stillwater came in 2004.
The Cowgirls needed just 96 seconds to score the lone goal in the match when Alex Morris delivered a cross into the box that Logan Heausler headed over KU goalie Melania Pasar from 12-yards out. The goal was Heausler's sixth of the season, while Morris recorded her team-leading sixth assist.
Grace Gordon posted her second-straight shutout and fourth of the season with three saves in the contest.
In the opening half, KU outshot the Cowgirls, 9-6, but Gordon recorded a pair of saves to keep the visitors at bay.
The final 45 minutes saw OSU's defense step up and limit the Jayhawks to only two shots and no corner kicks to help the one-goal advantage hold up.
OSU returns to action Sunday when it hosts Kansas State at 1 p.m.
