Hinson-Tolchard, Former Cowgirls Conclude Weekend at U.S. Women’s Open
July 09, 2023 | Cowgirl Golf
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Oklahoma State women's golfer Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, along with a pair of former Cowgirls, wrapped up their weekend at the 78th U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Making her major championship debut, Hinson-Tolchard missed the cut with a 14-over 158 after recording rounds of 78 and 80. She finished ahead of seven fellow amateurs, as well as 10-time major champion Annika Sorenstam.
Hinson-Tolchard, a rising senior, was one of 28 amateurs to have qualified for the event, with just four players among that group advancing past the 36-hole cut. Currently ranked 43rd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, Hinson-Tolchard's major appearance continues her strong 2023 season, winning medalist honors at the Big 12 Championship and finishing top-5 at the NCAA Championship in the spring.
Maja Stark finished tied for 9th, her first top-10 at the U.S. Women's Open and third time in the top-20. Stark, the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2021, carded rounds of 72-73-72-72 to end the weekend at 1-over.
Appearing in her 11th consecutive U.S. Women's Open, Pernilla Lindberg narrowly missed the cut at 7-over. Lindberg is the only Cowgirl to have ever claimed victory at a major championship, winning the 2018 ANA Inspiration.
