June 10, 2023 | Cowgirl Golf
LIGONIER, Pa. – Oklahoma State women's golfer Maddison Hinson-Tolchard wrapped up her weekend at the Arnold Palmer Cup with a tied match against Team USA's Zoe Campos Saturday.
In the lone singles round of the weekend, Campos led throughout the front nine before Hinson-Tolchard stormed back with three birdies between holes No. 11 and No. 14 to tighten the match. The two entered No. 17 all square and were not able to break the tie over the final two holes.
Representing Team International, Hinson-Tolchard opened her weekend alongside Christian Maas of Texas in the mixed fourball match Thursday morning. The pair squared off against Illinois golfers Crystal Wang and Tommy Kuhl and fell in a tight match, 2&1.
Friday morning, the Perth, Australia native was paired with Chiara Tamburlini of Ole Miss in foursomes, suffering a 2 UP defeat to Zoe Campos and Amanda Sambach. In the afternoon, Hinson-Tolchard once again joined forced with Maas in the mixed foursomes match, but lost, 4&3, to Texas A&M's Jennie Park and Nick Gabrelcik of North Florida.
Despite a strong final push from Team International, Team USA claimed the tournament title, 32-28.
Hinson-Tolchard was the third Cowgirl to appear at the Arnold Palmer Cup in the last three years, joining Maja Stark and Isabella Fierro, who were teammates on Team International in 2021.
Following her qualification in May, Hinson-Tolchard will now begin preparing for the 78th U.S. Women's Open, which will be played from July 6-9 at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
