Hinson-Tolchard Tabbed As Big 12’s Best In April
May 03, 2023 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's golfer Maddison Hinson-Tolchard was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for April, the conference announced today.
Despite being named the Big 12 Golfer of the Year in 2022, the honor marks the first monthly conference award of Hinson-Tolchard's career. She is the only Cowgirl to be awarded Golfer of the Month this season and the first since Lianna Bailey won the honor in April of 2022 following her individual win at the Big 12 Championship.
The award caps off an incredible month for the standout junior, which began with the Big 12 Match Play in Scottsdale, Arizona. There, Hinson-Tolchard compiled a 6-1-1 record while consistently playing against the conference's toughest opponents.
In her second event of the month, Hinson-Tolchard captured the individual title at the Big 12 Championship after firing an overall score of 212 (-4). She shot par-or-better in all three rounds played and was tied for the most pars in the field with 37.
Additionally, Hinson-Tolchard's 69 on Saturday was the 50th par-or-better round of her career, breaking program record of 49 set by Kenzie Neisen.
Hinson-Tolchard's performance was instrumental in helping Oklahoma State bring home the team trophy as well, defeating runner-up Baylor by seven strokes.
Just two days after the Big 12 Championship, the Perth, Australia native was one of twelve players named to the Arnold Palmer Cup field, where she will compete for the International Team in June.
Hinson-Tolchard finished April at No. 10 in the GolfStat Player Ranking, the highest of any Big 12 player, and has risen all the way up to 52nd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
