Cowgirls Tied For Seventh After First Day At Clemson Invitational

SUNSET, S.C. – No. 21 Oklahoma State women's golf completed its first of three rounds at the Clemson Invitational at the Reserve at Lake Keowee on Friday, landing in a tie for seventh after combining to shoot a 9-over 297.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard highlighted the Cowgirls' opening day in Sunset, S.C. with a 2-under 70, which knotted her in a four-way tie for sixth, just two strokes back of the individual lead.
The junior has elevated her game as of late, shooting six consecutive rounds under par. Additionally, Hinson-Tolchard's 70 on Friday was the 47th par-or-better round of her career, inching closer the program record of 49 set by Kenzie Neisen.
The reigning Big 12 Player of the Year will be looking for her first victory of the season, having already racked up four top-10 finishes in seven events.
Clemence Martin and Thitaporn Saithip each carded rounds of (+3) 75, both ending the day tied for 36th. Saithip pounced on the first par-5 of the day with an eagle on hole No. 5, while Martin ended her day strong, shooting 1-under on the final five holes of the afternoon.
Rina Tatematsu's opening round 77 placed her in a tie for 49th, while Hailey Jones was tied for 60th at 7-over.
The Cowgirls will tee off with a shotgun start tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT for the second round, aiming to make their way back up the leaderboard.
