Cowgirl Tennis Falls At No. 12 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Oklahoma State's women's tennis wrapped up its Big Ten road trip with a 6-1 loss at No. 12 Michigan on Saturday at the Varsity Tennis Center.
With the setback, the Cowgirls fall to 2-3 on the season, while the Wolverines improve to 4-0.
This will be the second time that OSU has played Michigan in a week. Last Sunday, the Wolverines defeated the Cowgirls, 4-2, in the championships of the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Stillwater.
In doubles play, Ayumi Miyamoto and Lucia Peyre fall to Michigan's second-ranked doubles team in Jaedan Brown and Kari Miller, 6-2, while Kristina Novak and Alana Wolfberg lost, 6-1, to Julia Fliegner and Lily Jones.
Sofia Rojas and Raquel Gonzalez's match went unfinished against Merri Kelly and Andrea Cerdan at 4-4.
The Cowgirls were unable to gain any momentum in singles action. Novak fell to 40th-ranked Brown, 6-2, 6-1, and Sofia Rojas lost to No. 39 Julia Fliegner, 6-3, 6-3. Peyre was forced to retire due to injury.
The Wolverines secured the match, but both teams decided to play out. Gonzalez bested Nicole Hammond, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4, to go undefeated in singles on the weekend.
No. 81 Miller defeated Wolfberg, 7-5, 6-3, and Miyamoto was bested by Cerdan, 1-6, 7-6, (10-5).
The Cowgirls will have a two-week break to readjust before returning home to compete in a doubleheader against Wichita State and South Carolina on Feb. 24-25.
