Miyamoto Named Big 12 Player Of The Week

STILLWATER – After tallying thrilling wins over quality competition over the week, OSU senior Ayumi Miyamoto was named Big 12 Player of the Week.
Miyamoto went 4-0 in doubles play and 3-0 in singles action which helped the Cowgirls register four sweeps against Louisiana Tech, Oral Roberts, Wichita State and No. 41 South Carolina.
The Chiba, Japan native and her doubles partner, Raquel Gonzalez, kicked off the week with a 6-3 victory over the Bulldog pair of Ana Rodrigues and Olga Bienzobas. Directly after, Miyamoto secured her singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, against Ilana Tetruashvili on court five.
Miyamoto carried the energy into the Oral Roberts match as she and Gonzalez secured a 6-2 victory against the Golden Eagle's Aliksandra Lebedeva and Reagan Miley.
On Friday, the senior paired up with Gonzalez to take a 6-4 win and clinch the doubles point before defeating Wichita State's Theodora Chantava, 6-2, 6-2.
Against the 41st-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, Miyamoto had another strong outing besting her doubles opponents, 6-0, with Gonzalez. She then secured her 35th career singles win after taking down Ana Cruz, 6-2, 6-3.
Miyamoto is now 6-2 in singles and 7-2 in doubles on the season. She moves to second overall in career doubles win percentage at .780 for OSU in the Big 12 era.
OSU is set for two road tests against UC Santa Barbara next Friday at 1 p.m. CT and Pepperdine March 5 at 1 p.m. CT.
