Cowgirl Equestrian Tops No. 8 Baylor

WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State's seventh-ranked equestrian team defeated No. 8 Baylor 10-9 Saturday in Waco.
The win improves the Cowgirls to 4-3 on the season and 3-1 in Big 12 play. It also marks their first road win of the season and 10th-straight win against Baylor.
"I could not be more proud of the way our girls are coming together right now," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "Everyone put their best foot forward today and that is why we came out with the win. We still have some work to do and with the attitude I've been seeing lately, we are definitely headed in the right direction."
The meet began with Fences and Horsemanship
In Fences, the Cowgirls earned four of the five points. Sydney North got things started in a big way, tying a career-high in an 88-79 win to claim MOP. Following that, Baylor claimed its only Fences point, with Sydnie Ziegler falling to Madeline Vorhies 80-65. OSU answered by rattling off three points in a row, starting with Hope King beating Madison Mitchell 77-74 followed by Riley Hogan topping Lauren Reid 82-70, improving her to 7-1 on the season. Emma Pacyna rounded out the Fences portion of the meet with an 84-72 victory.
In Horsemanship, Baylor struck first, with Gabrielle Marty beating Maddie Fussell 76.5-69. Jojo Roberson got the Cowgirls on the board, winning 77-73 to earn MOP and her fourth Horsemanship point in a row. Following in her sister's footsteps, June Roberson earned her second-career point, beating Alexis Rutledge 75-61.5. Claire McDowall and Baylor's Nadalee Vasquez tied at 73.5 before Peyton Baxter narrowly beat Marley Mainwaring while tying a career high in the process, winning 76-75.5.
The meet continued with Flat before concluding with Reining
Both teams had an impressive day in Flat, setting numerous career-highs and program records. Grace McReynolds got things started, setting a new career-high of 90 despite falling to Madline Vorhies' 92. Annie Vorhies claimed the next point for Baylor, beating Hannah Coleman 89-86. King earned the only point for the Cowgirls, setting a new career-high and tying a program Flat record in the process, winning 92-87. Baylor continued its comeback after that, with Dominika Silvestri beating Elizabeth Carter 92-91, despite a career-high for Carter. Madison Mitchell concluded Flat by setting a Baylor program record in her 94-89 win over Ella Reinauer. The 89 was a career high for Reinauer.
With the Cowgirls leading 8-6, Reining began. The first two points went the way of Baylor, tying the meet at eight. First, Daisy Kaufman beat Quincee Clark 69.5-68.5 before Madaline Callaway edged Jojo Roberson 67.5-67. Hannah Lovrien then earned a clutch point for the Cowgirls, winning 70.5-68 to put OSU ahead by one. Then, after a review, Molly Mitchell defeated Andie Pratt 71.5-60.5 to clinch it and earn her second MOP of the season and fifth of her career. The meet concluded with Baylor's Shelby Clausen 66-65.5 over Tristan Bagby, finishing off a Cowgirl 10-9 victory.
King broke a previous career-high of 90.5 with her 92 against Baylor. She became the fourth Cowgirl to score a 92 in program history, joining Carly Barrick, Maggie Drysch and Katie Pelzel.
Roberson claimed her third MOP in her last four meets, all of which coming in Horsemanship. She's now received the honor in Horsemanship 11 times in her career, second most in program history behind Harley Huff's 14.
North earned MOP honors for the second-straight meet, joining Roberson as the only Cowgirls to accomplish that this season. The senior how now earned the award three times in her career.
