Trio leads Oklahoma State to 81-60 victory over Oral Roberts
December 17, 2023 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER -- Quion Williams and Bryce Thompson scored 13 points apiece, freshman Eric Dailey Jr. added a double-double and Oklahoma State rolled to an 81-60 victory over Oral Roberts on Sunday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Â
OSU (5-5) used runs of 12-0 and 17-2 to build a 48-27 halftime lead and pushed the margin to as many as 30 points down the stretch.
Â
The Cowboys shot 50 percent and matched their season-high with 24 assists on 31 baskets. That .774 assist percentage was their highest since a Jan. 25, 2020 win at Texas A&M (22A, 27 FG).
Â
Eight different OSU players made at least one three-pointer in a 14-of-30 (.467) performance from deep.
Â
Williams' career-high 13 points came on 6-of-8 shooting, while Thompson nailed 4-of-9 threes to reach double-figures for the first time in more than a month.
Â
Eric Dailey Jr. added 12 points and matched his personal best with 11 rebounds, Javon Small served up eight assists with just one turnover, and Brandon Garrison stuffed the box score with eight points, nine boards and six assists.
Â
Issac McBride finished with 14 points for ORU (4-6), which shot 39.3 percent from the field and committed a season-high 13 turnovers. The Golden Eagles had entered the day with the fourth-fewest turnovers nationally (8.7) and the 10th-most threes (10.8).
Â
The Cowboys opened with perhaps their most impressive half of basketball this season.  They made eight of their first 11 shots – half of them from deep – to build a 22-10 lead at the 14:00-mark.
Â
Sir Issac Herron's basket with 6:00 to play in the half pulled ORU to within 31-25, but the Golden Eagles – 5-of-8 from deep up to that point – made just 1-of-7 the rest of the way.
Â
OSU's freshmen combined for 11 points during a 17-2 run to finish the half. Small had assists on four of the six field goals in that stretch.
Â
ORU scored the first two baskets of the second half, but Thompson and Dailey answered with back-to-back treys.
Â
The lead stretched to 30 (79-49) with 3:45 to play when Thompson found Garrison for an alley-oop.
Â
OSU won its sixth straight over ORU and improved to 13-1 against the Golden Eagles in Stillwater.
Â
The Cowboys will host Wofford for a Wednesday matinee at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The 2 p.m. CT tip airs on ESPN+. Visit okstate.com/tickets to purchase seats.
