December 01, 2023 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State track & field travels up north to open its 2023-24 indoor slate Saturday at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener held at Boston University.
Sixteen middle-distance and distance athletes will compete for the Cowboys and Cowgirls for the first time since the conclusion of the cross country season two weeks ago.
On the men's side, Big 12 cross country champion Brian Musau will make his track debut for the Cowboys in the 3,000 Meters alongside Ryan Schoppe, who currently owns the No. 2 time in the event in school history.
Later in the night, cross country All-Americans Denis Kipngetich, Alex Maier, Fouad Messaoudi, Jonas Price and Victor Shitsama will all be competing in the 5,000 Meters. Messaoudi will be competing indoors for the first time since winning a pair of NCAA titles at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships in New Mexico. Kipngetich will also be making his track debut for OSU after finishing fourth overall at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
For the Cowgirls, Sivan Auerbach, Grace Boone, Heidi Demeo, Gabija Galvydyte and Mandeep Sangha will be running in the Mile. Galvydyte is making her first appearance on the track since competing at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in the 800 Meters for her home country of Lithuania.
In the 800 Meters, highly-touted freshman Isis Grant will be making her debut in the orange and black alongside teammate Kaylie Politza. The pair enter the event as the third-and-fourth fastest seed times overall.
For the distance events, cross country All-American Billah Jepkirui returns to the track in the women's 3,000 Meters for the first time since earning first team All-America honors in the 1,500 Meters at last season's NCAA Outdoor Championships. Later in the day, fellow cross country All-American Molly Born will make her season debut in the women's 5,000 Meters.
