November 08, 2023 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's golf added another strong class of future Cowgirls, with Lucy Darr and Summer Lee signing their National Letters of Intent to join the program on Wednesday, as announced by head coach Greg Robertson.
Lucy Darr – Stillwater, Oklahoma
Lucy Darr has long been familiar with the Cowgirl Golf program. As a resident of Stillwater and the daughter of Cowboy Golf assistant coach Donnie Darr, she adds a strong work ethic and experience to the team.
"Lucy is a true Cowgirl having spent a lot of time around the golf programs since her dad coaches the men's team," Robertson said. "She has a lot of OSU pride and will be a great fit for our program. She works extremely hard, and it's shown with the strides she's made in the last couple of years.
"She will be a great teammate and will bring the kind of attitude that we're looking for in a player."
Darr has been a key figure in Oklahoma high school golf, collecting a bevy of honors while attending Stillwater High School. As a junior, Darr helped lead the Pioneers to the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference title, where she earned the individual title and was named all-conference player of the year. At the Class 6A State Championship, she finished second in the field.
Darr also competed in a pair of high-level tournaments over the summer, highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the Talor Gooch Foundation Junior Championship with rounds of 71-72-73.
Summer Lee – Plano, Texas
Summer Lee has established herself as one of the premier golfers at the junior level, holding a current ranking of 83 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard and 138 on the Rolex AJCA rankings.
"Summer is a very talented golfer and will be a great addition to our team," Robertson said. "The more we watched her play, the more we felt she was the type of player that could make an impact in our program. We had a great recruiting visit with her and her mom, and she connected well with the team.
"She is very excited to be a Cowgirl, which is something we love to see."
Lee carries a prolific track record at the amateur level and has built upon her success in 2023. She was named champion at the 2023 NTPGA February Junior Classic, took home the Greenwood Cup in four-ball stroke play with her partner, carding rounds of 66-66, and carded a 70 in round three of the Texas Girls' Invitational to finish tied for second.
In AJGA tournaments this year, Lee placed tied for third at the Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship and third at the Under Armour® / Jordan Spieth Championship in June.
