STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Barry Hinson will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame next month, it was announced.
A 1983 OSU graduate, Hinson currently serves as OSU Athletics' Director of Name, Image and Likeness after a long run coaching basketball that included head coaching stops at Oral Roberts University from 1997-99, Missouri State from 1999-2008 and Southern Illinois from 2012-19. His career head coaching record is 321-246.
"Any time you receive an award like this it is confirmation you are surrounded by good people," Hinson said. "I've been blessed to have great players and coaches alongside through the entire process."
During his nine years as head coach at Missouri State, he led the Bears to a 169-117 record that included a 95-67 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play. He finished his coaching career ranked fourth in league history in wins and seasons coached, trailing only Mr. Henry Iba, Eddie Hickey and Dana Altman. Four of his Missouri State teams earned spots in the National Invitation Tournament with the 2005 and 2006 squads securing top-25 rankings in the RPI.
The induction ceremony is set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13 at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield.
