Kajuru Makes History as Six Cowgirls Appear in ITA Rankings

STILLWATER – Six members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team were recognized in the final fall rankings released by the ITA on Wednesday.
Coming off one of the most successful fall seasons in program history, Ange Oby Kajuru ranked at No. 2 in the ITA singles rankings, making her the highest-ranked player in program history.
In the fall, Kajuru amassed a 16-3 singles record and 14-3 doubles record, while finishing as the doubles runner-up at the ITA Fall National Championship and claiming the ITA Central Regional singles title. She also advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Fall National Championships in singles and put together a nine-match win streak through the end of October and into November.
Joining Kajuru in the singles rankings was Anastasiya Komar at No. 13, while Lucia Peyre came in at No. 53, Ayumi Miyamoto at No. 60 and Safiya Carrington at No. 62.
In the doubles rankings, the team of Kajuru and Komar ranked No. 6 while the duo of Komar and Raquel Gonzalez landed at No. 12.
OSU as a team completed one of its greatest fall seasons in program history, claiming four ITA collegiate titles, two professional singles titles and a professional doubles title. Combined, the Cowgirls totaled 141 wins and collected 102 WTA points among the seven players in action.
Individually, Komar reached the doubles final of the ITA Fall National Championships, won the singles consolation title at the ITA All-American Championships and was the singles and doubles runner-up at the ITA Central Regional Championships.
Peyre was the singles and doubles champion at the ITF Norman 15k pro circuit event, finished runner-up at the ITF Jackson 15 pro circuit event and was the doubles champion at the ITA Battle of the Bay.
Additionally, Miyamoto won the ITF Jackson 15k pro circuit singles title and was a doubles runner-up, along with reaching the ITA Battle of the Bay singles and doubles semifinals and the ITF Norman 15k pro circuit doubles semifinal.
The Cowgirls now look ahead to a competitive spring schedule that includes hosting Michigan, Ohio State and defending NCAA national champion North Carolina. It will conclude with the Big 12 and NCAA Championships being played at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater at the end of the season.
