Cowgirls Tied For Eighth After Bushnell’s Big Day In Medinah

MEDINAH, Ill. – Oklahoma State women's golf played 36 holes at the Illini Women's Invitational on Monday, rounding out play on course No. 2 of Medinah Country Club tied for eighth.
A trio of Cowgirls also played individually at the Dale McNamara Invitational, playing two rounds at The Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Playing in their first shotgun start of the season, the Cowgirls capped round-one action in Medinah in 10th, rising to a two-way tie for eighth place after 36. On the podium, LSU (-14), Northwestern (-8) and Georgia (-5) hold their heads high heading into tomorrow.
Ellie Bushnell caught fire in round two, carding five-consecutive birdies on hole Nos. 1-5 and closing the day with a clutch birdie on hole No. 9. Overall, Bushnell co-lead the field with 10 birdies on Monday, adding to an impressive 26 birdies through her eight rounds with the Cowgirls thus far.
Heading into Tuesday, the freshman is tied for 11th and is three strokes behind the leader in the field.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard closed the day tied for 25th after posting rounds of 74 and 70 to finish even.
Clemence Martin and Thitaporn Saithip finished Monday at 3-over across rounds. Martin played a steady game the entire day, finishing with 25 pars – three shy of the field leader. Saithip shot an even 72 in the first round.
Marta Silchenko posted a pair of 6-over 78 rounds on the day, while – as an individual – Angelica Pfefferkorn carded rounds of 79 and 78.
In Broken Arrow, freshman Sammie Miller and fifth-year seniors Ashton Begley and Jenna Solheim competed as individuals.
Miller opened the day strong with two birdies in her first four holes, ultimately capping the day tied for 36th with rounds of 75 and 73.
Begley finished the day tied for 76th, while Solheim enters Tuesday in 84th.
